Programme

This is the programme for the 2024 – 2025 season. Most meetings will be held at The Drill Hall, Walkershaugh, Peebles. We will also have a couple of Zoom meetings as this allows us to attract speakers from further afield.

18th September   A Welcome to the New Season

A welcome to returning and new members. There will be a chance for members to show a few of their photos of
what they did over the summer. Also, we will view the images submitted for our summer challenge on the theme
of ‘Power’.

2nd October

Mobile Phone Photography – Kenny Martin

This promises to be a very special evening. Kenny is widely regarded as one the of the finest creative photographers in Europe. He will explain what can be achieved working with a mobile phone.

Table Top photography

An opportunity to do some still-life photography using both cameras and smart phones and using a variety of lighting set-ups.

6th November  Competition 1 – Open Subject

20th November – Members Photo Night – Smart Phone Photography

Following on from Kenny Martin’s talk, an opportunity for members to show their own efforts at photography using mobile phones.

4th December – ‘Photojournalism’ – Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert

Jeremy is a UK-based freelance photographer for editorial, corporate and NGO clients. His work has appeared in magazines such as Time, National Geographic, Italian Geo, Le Figaro, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, and many others. His work has taken him to over 100 countries from Antarctica to Zambia, and his personal and commissioned work, for which he has been the recipient of photojournalism awards, has been widely published and exhibited in Europe, Asia and USA.

This is a shared evening with Gala Camera Club at Langlee Community Centre, Galashiels.

18th December – Christmas Social Night

In a varied evening, Pete, Ruth and Kevin will explain their Drill Hall photography project. There will also be plenty of time for snacks and possibly a photography-related quiz!

8th January  Annual Dinner

15th January  – ‘All About Textures’ – Kathy Henry – ZOOM

Club member, Kathy Henry, explains how she uses textures in her photography.

Following the success of ZOOM over the last three years, this will be a ZOOM meeting.

5th February –  Nature in the Landscape – Neil MacGregor DPAGB LRPS – ZOOM

Neil is a member of Milngavie and Bearsden Camera Club. He is a very keen outdoor photographer of nature and landscapes.

This meeting is via ZOOM.

5th March –  Talks By Members

A chance for members to showcase their latest images. Volunteers will be needed!

19th March – Street Photography – Cameron Scott

Cameron is a member of the Progressive Street gang of photographers and is privileged to be a curator for their Facebook page and Galleries. He will talk on his approach to Street Photography.

2nd April – Members’ Photo Night – Street Photography

Following Cameron Scott’s talk, members will present their attempts at Street Photography.

16th April  Competition 3 – Open Subject

7th May –  Photo Walk at a Local Venue

We will meet at a local venue for a photography walk. Venue will be decided nearer the time.
