Programme

This is the programme for the 2023 – 2024 season. Most meetings will be held at The Drill Hall, Walkershaugh, Peebles. We will also have a couple of Zoom meetings as this allows us to attract speakers from further afield.

6th September   A Welcome to the New Season

A welcome evening for all existing members and potential new members. A chance for members to show a few of their photos of what they did over the summer. Plus, we will be showing the images from the Summer Challenge on the theme of “A Well-Known Phrase or Saying”.

20th September  Members’ AVs

Those members who produce Audio Visuals of their photos will explain how they do it and demonstrate some of their work.

4th October  “Svalbard and Abstract Photography” – Sandy Welsh

In an evening of two halves, club member Sandy will show images from a recent trip to Svalbard and will then explain how he produces multiple exposure abstracts with some examples.

18th October  Autumn Photo Walk at Dawyck

An afternoon walk at Dawyck Botanic Garden. There should still be some good fungi and early autumn colour.

1st November  Competition 1 – Open Subject

15th November – Studio Flash

Using various lighting and background set-ups, we’ll have a go at some studio flash. Bring your camera and a tripod.

6th December  “Coastal ICM Photography” – Shona Perkins

Shona is a Scottish seascape and ICM Photographer and the founder of My Beautiful Scotland. Heavily influenced by contemporary art and abstract minimalism, Shona has spent the past few years developing her love for intentional camera movement (ICM).

She will talk through an in-depth tutorial focussing on the beautiful art of ICM photography.

This is a shared evening with Gala Camera Club.

17th January  “What I Learnt From the Judge” – ZOOM

Members explain how they produced and processed an image and the changes they made after the judge’s comments.

Following the success of ZOOM over the last two years, this will be a ZOOM meeting.

7th February  “Creative Photography and Digital Art” – Steven Le Prevost FRPS MPAGB AFIAP FIPF – ZOOM

Steven presents the digital artwork he has produced over the last few years. He will cover all aspects of his photographic art with no stone un-turned!

21st February  Competition 2 – Open Subject

6th March  “Fabulous Falklands – A Wildlife Photographer’s Paradise” – Alison & Kevin Lomax

Club member Kevin and Alison present images of the fantastic wildlife of the Falklands Islands.

20th March “Photographing Beltane”

Colette, Pete and Kevin will describe the intense process of being the official photographers for the Peebles Beltane Festival.

3rd April  “Astrophotography” – Ford Renton LRPS

Ford is a very accomplished photographer and is chairman of Gala CC. He has a passion for astrophotography, producing spectacular starscapes and deep sky images.
